Packing Tips That Save Space
- Plan outfits around one or two neutral colors so pieces mix and match.
- Roll casual clothes and use packing cubes; cabin drawers are shallow.
- Wear your bulkiest shoes and jacket on travel day.
- Leave room for souvenirs, or pack a foldable tote for the trip home.
- Use travel-size toiletries and refill them from home bottles.
- Put a copy of your packing list in the suitcase to check against on the last night.
Packing Questions
How many formal outfits do I need?
It depends on the line and length. Many 7-night cruises have one or two dressier evenings, and some lines are casual throughout. Check your line’s dress code; one or two smart outfits usually cover it.
Is there laundry on board?
Most ships offer a paid laundry service, and some have self-service launderettes. Knowing this lets you pack less for longer cruises.
Should I pack a hanging organizer?
Many cruisers find an over-the-door organizer and a few magnetic hooks helpful, since cabin storage is compact. Check your line’s rules first; most allow them.
